The mei tai is an Asian-style symmetrical carrier, a type of ABC (Asian Back Carrier). This baby carrier provides an ideal weigth distribution, which makes it very suited for long walks, while it is much easier and quicker to put on than a wrap style carrier, even for inexperienced moms and dads (watch our - Dutch - instruction movies to see for yourself!). It can be used in front, on the hip or back, from birth till toddlerhood. The Mister Mirko Mei Tai's described below are all different variants which mommy develloped following her own experiences with carrying me in the mei tai.

After a lot of experimenting with me as a little guinney pig :-) mommy decided to introduce a new baby carrier. The Mei Tai Wraparound has extra long straps and an adjustable seat. We both found our original mei tai did not provide me with optimal seating comfort. In this new carrier, my little tush is given extra support and the gaping holes on the sides are made to disappear. The extra wraparound makes sure that my weigth is even better distributed, taking a lot of weigth from mommy's shoulders to her hips. Additional benefit is the possibility to play with different styles of carrying (rugsack, cross, tibetan finish, chestbelt,...) which allows for different weight shifts every time. The adjustable seat makes sure my little legs are supported well at all ages. The rounded headrest can flip up when I get tired. All different fabric options can be found here.
A new baby in the house means new inspiration! While carrying little Yin, mommy decided that the head and neck support for tuny babies could still be improved, so a few adjustments were made.

This carrier with unfoldable sleeping
hood is ideal for babies or toddlers who still like to take a nap on
the way. The adjustable hood provides head support and protection against
the sun. When it is not used, it can be folded in a little bag on the
back, from where you can unfold it again when necessary, even with your
baby on your back. Available in most of the mei tai fabrics.

The Mei Tai is a great carrier to sit belly to belly, on mommy's back or even on her hip. The wide straps make sure my weigth is nicely distributed, the non-stretch cotton prevents me from sliding down and for mommy it is a very easy carrier to put on! The rounded top can flip up when I fall asleep. All different fabrics are to be found here.
